UVic Adds Blinkhorn for 2010-11 Season
For Immediate Release
September 1, 2010The UVic Hockey Club, proud affiliate of the Victoria Salmon Kings, announced today that Luc Blinkhorn has committed to the team for the 2010-11 BCIHL Season.
Last year, Blinkhorn was named captain of the KIJHL’s Revelstoke Grizzlies. Under his leadership, the team posted the best record in the Okanagan Division (35-9-1-5) while Blinkhorn notched 48 points (17G-31A) in 33 regular season games.
In the 2010 postseason, Blinkhorn led the Grizzlies with 24 points (6G-18A) in a 15 game march to a KIJHL championship. Blinkhorn and the Grizzlies had a long season in 2009-10 as the team would go on to win the Cyclone Taylor Cup and the Keystone Cup, becoming the Jr. B champs of Western Canada.
The 5’11, 175 pound native of Winfield, BC predominantly spent his junior career with the Grizzlies, posting 97 points (38G-59A) in 120 games played from 2007 to 2010. The playmaking center also had a stint with the Merritt Centennials of the BCHL.
Blinkhorn was drawn to the Island by UVic’s Kinesiology program and will add scoring depth to a Vikes team looking to rebound from a sub-par 2009-10 season.
