UVic Solidifies Coaching Staff
Byers and McNeil to join Schamhart behind the bench

Victoria,BC – The University of Victoria Hockey Club announced today that Cole Byers and Sean McNeil have been named Assistant Coaches for the upcoming 2011/12 BCIHL season. Byers and McNeil will join Harry Schamhart behind the bench.
A native of Tweed, Ontario, McNeil has spent the past 27 years both playing and coaching at a variety of levels including High School, Junior and Senior AAA.
Most recently, Sean spent two seasons coaching in the Western Quebec High School league where his teams compiled an impressive winning percentage of .683 and won or made the finals in seven of ten tournaments.
Byers, born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, now calls Victoria home after a five year professional career. Byers spent two seasons in the ECHL with the Victoria Salmon Kings and Trenton Titans before taking his talents to Europe. After playing the 2008 season with the Heerenveen Flyers of the Netherlands, Byers now enjoys life as a local business owner and father while looking forward to contributing to the winning tradition at UVic.
The UVIC Hockey Club, a Vikes Sport Clubs program, is a student-led organization that competes competitively in the BC Intercollegiate Hockey League. Information on the team is available through www.uvicmenshockeyclub.com while league details can be found at www.bcihl.ca.
