Victoria, BC -The University of Victoria found itself in Langley, BC on Friday to face the 1-5-1 Trinity Western University Spartans. The game was displaced from the Langley Events Centre due to the World Junior A Challenge. UVic gave the nod in net to rookie Jason Margolus while TWU countered with starter Tim Zwiers.

UVic would waste no time after a three week layoff as Doug Evans capitalized with a power play goal just over three minutes into the first period. Matt Bell and Adam Courtnall would be credited with assists as the Club took an early lead. However, a trio of TWU rookies would level the score by the 14:12 mark. The even strength Spartans' marker would send the teams into the intermission deadlocked at 1.

The two sides played an back-and-forth game for the bulk of the second frame until sophomore Mark Callaghan put UVic in front with another power play goal. Mark Prest and Adam Courtnall both notched assists on the goal and there would be no further scoring in the period. After two, UVIC 2 TWU 1.

The final frame was more of the same as neither side could muster sustained offensive pressure. Defenceman Phil Barter would put the game to bed at 13:24 while Adam Courtnall was credited with another assist. Final score, UVIc 3 TWU 1.

Adam Courtnall was named the game's first star with three assists while UVic goalie Jason Margolus shone in his first BCIHL start posting 25 saves for the win.

UVic will play the underdog tomorrow night at Bill Copeland Arena when the face the defending BCIHL champions, Simon Fraser University. Puck drop is set for 7:00PM and the SFU broadcast of the game can be found at www.sfuhockey.ca.
